A day in the life of a crafting Mama
6:30 a.m. ~ hubby wakes me up with a kiss as he walks out the door for work. He also wakes up our 2 mo old and our 18 mo old... So I'm up for the day
7:00 a.m. ~ I bribe the 18 mo old with a sippy cup of milk to sit and watch tv while I lay in bed with my eyes closed pretending to sleep. Oh, I'm also nursing the baby!
8:00 a.m. ~ Sesame Street goes off on Sprout, so we go down for breakfast. Cereal and fruit for my 18 mo old. Hard boiled eggs without the yolk for me... I'm on a diet, trying to loose that baby weight.
9:00 a.m. ~ Breakfast is over, Daughter is cleaned, Diapers are changed, and hopefully, We're out of our pajamas. I check out Etsy, anything new? Usually not... but every once in a while, a SALE! WOOHOO! Celebrate, then think, "Do I have enough yarn for that one?" Nope, got to go shopping. Finish up with Etsy, Blog, Twitter, Flickr, Myspace, Facebook, Cafemom, Ownthehour, Etsysecrets, weloveetsy, etc.
10:00 a.m. ~ Done working with Etsy for now. Read some books with my girls, sing some songs ("The wheels on the bus go...") We play blocks, ball, dolls, dress-up, mess up, climb, fall, jump, run, swing, nurse the baby, change diapers again. start on crochet i need to get done
11:00 a.m. ~ Phone call from hubby, he's at lunch. Had to go to the store for sandwich stuff. I've got to check the bank account, make sure there's enough in there for that. If not, move $ over from savings. Realize our phone bill is due tomorrow. Crap! I need to be more organized! I debate on whether to make lunch or not. I ignore my mommy guilt and make hotdogs and mac and cheese for my 18 month old. To lessen the guilt, I heat up some frozen peas in the microwave and toss on the plate too.
12:00 p.m. ~ Lunch is done, I forgot to eat myself, so I'm hungry. I get out a sippy cup of milk for my 18 month old, remember I need to wean her from needing a sippy before naps, give in cause I don't want to deal with it at the moment, lay her down with bunny and blankie, pray she sleeps, nurse the baby again, lay her down, pray she sleeps, sit at computer, start typing stupid blog about "a day in the life of..."
1:00 p.m. ~ start crocheting, ignore my carpal tunnel, wonder if I have stuff to ship this, add shipping stuff to the list in my head of what I need at the store, remember to call insurance about question on hospital bill from when I had the baby, can't afford to pay the bill, set up payment plan, wonder where the $ will come from. Keep crocheting, wonder if one day my hands and fingers will just fall off one day.
2:00 p.m. ~ 18 month old starts stirring (PLEASE, DON"T WAKE UP!), she stops, baby wakes up to eat. Get back on etsy, no change, Email my mama (How did she do this with 7 kids?), remember it's the holidays, there is more shopping to do. Wake up the girls, get on coats and shoes hopefully
3:00 p.m. ~ run out the door to the store, try to remember everything i need to get, I should have written it down, leave the store without half the stuff I needed cause my girls are both screaming, they needed to sleep longer. I'll have to go back to store later tonight.
4:00 p.m. ~ husband calls, he's leaving work, i tell him to SPEED! I need a break. Girls are playing, crying, messing with the computer, the tv, the closet. I turn on baby einstein and try to convince myself the TV time doesn't count cause it's educational
4:30 p.m. ~ i call husband, "WHERE ARE YOU?", "Traffic!", "HURRY!"
4:45 p.m. ~ remember I need to get dinner started, nothing to cook, throw a few things in a pot and hope it doesn't take like poop. Hubby's home, i get a 5 minute break in the bathroom by myself. my 18 month old is at the door crying to get in though... does it still count as a break?
5:15 p.m. ~ the stuff in the pot on the stove looks done. I tell hubby (he's on his laptop, looking at NFL.com) "Where's the girls?" "I thought you had them?" "I was cooking!" "Oh," the baby is upstairs in her bouncy seat, the toddler is playing in the toilet! Gross! Atleast I cleaned it yesterday... didn't I? Can't remember. Decide to go on and give DD a bath before dinner.
6:00 p.m. ~ we're sitting down eating... well, everyone but me. The baby needed to nurse, so I'm nursing. Tell husband I need to go to store, "thought you did that already." "yeah, but I forgot somethings." "what about $$" "I know, I'll keep it cheap."
6:30 p.m. ~ hubby's playing x-box, toddler getting into cabinets in kitchen while i eat and hold the baby.
7:00 p.m. ~ tell hubby he's got to take the kids so I can crochet, get out my hook and yarn, the toddler grabs ball of yarn and rolls it down the hall, Tell hubby he's got to "WATCH" the girls, try to crochet, toddler comes and trys to steal my scissors, toddler goes back to hubby. "WATCH HER!"
8:00 p.m. ~ Bed time (thank goodness.) Say prayers together, (bless mamie, papa, grandma, grandpa, aunts dani, cayce, leeann, chelsea, jennifer, jamie, carrie, monica, krystin, candace, uncles michael, avery, kyle, kyle, john, jeremy, matt, and all your cousins too!) Give toddler her sippy cup of milk again (I really need to quit doing that) and bunny and blankie. Night night. Throw on jacket, grab purse and cell phone, run to store again ALONE!
8:30 p.m. ~ walk slowly through store, milking every minute of my break away from home ALONE. get everything I need, and then some I don't, feel guilty, put back the stuff I dont' need.
9:30 p.m. ~ get back home, hubby's asleep with baby on our bed, they're so cute. I get online to check etsy again, advertise some more, chat it up in the forums, check to see how many views I've had lately... they're down. Oh well. get to crocheting in peace and quiet.
12:00 a.m. ~ I'm still up, almost done crocheting, nursing the baby, waisting time online. YAWN. I need to sleep but can't. too much to do still. I do the dishes, a load of laundry, Pick up the living room, bathroom, toy room, bedroom, kitchen
1:30 a.m. ~ the house looks good enough, now I can relax, go to lay down to sleep, my toddler wakes up screaming. she's had a bad dream. go calm her down.
2.00 a.m. ~ wake up sitting beside my 18 mo old crib. Go lay down in my own bed. and finally go to sleep.
7:00 a.m. ~ I bribe the 18 mo old with a sippy cup of milk to sit and watch tv while I lay in bed with my eyes closed pretending to sleep. Oh, I'm also nursing the baby!
